Risks involved in Email Marketing


Email marketing has been used as an effective tool for marketing. But there are number of risks involved. Here there are few risks:

Burning out your list: People will leave the lists all the time without any fault of yours. Probably they might not be interested in receiving too many emails from you or they will not interested in the product or service you are offering. Otherwise you would have the used the email list many time. Be careful to always make your email list valuable to your readers, but do not irritate them.

Branded a Spammer: Spamming is the biggest danger to amongst Internet marketers who are willing to adopt it as practice. Sometimes, even the best lists get marked as spam. So Always make sure people know what you are sending & for what they are signing up for and make sure you take there consent before using their email addresses.

Breaking the law: Due to spam there are strict laws and it is easy to break them. For example: Buying email lists from a list broker which is not an opt-in lists or collecting email addresses without the consent of the owner. Use an opt-in list or buy the list from a reputable list provider.

Comparing click-through-rates and open rates: The open-rate and click-through-rates depend on several factors such as the relevance of the content, the timing of the email, the subject line and list hygiene. With the latter I mean how up-to-date and 'clean' you keep your email list. If you never delete email addresses from recipients that never interact with your emails.

Delivery issues: People are becoming more sensitive to spam. So there are chances of your messages going into spam folder.

Revenue at Risk: Revenue is been hit because companies are failing to put in place sufficient measures to ensure email marketing messages are delivered.

But email marketing is such a powerful and cost-effective tool that businesses like yours need to persist in your search for new ways of building a stronger relationship with your subscriber base. To do this, you must first lend credibility to the voice of your organization through your emails. Marketers should plan & carefully buy email lists for their email campaigns which is double opt-in list, analysis, follow-up, bounce backs and track.
